Some health workers have shared some reasons why they refused to be posted to the Elubo Government hospital in the Jomoro district of the Western Region.
The Elubo government hospital reportedly started operating in January 2023 and is also a referral centre for some communities in Cote D’Ivore. The Elubo Government is reported to be one of the new medical facilities in the Western Region.
However, the distance of the hospital from the Elubo township has become a problem for the people in the township including the staff of the hospital.
The administrator of the hospital, George Baffour Akowuah in an interview with TV3, blamed the lack of accommodation and means of transportation as the reasons why some health workers refuse to move to the town when they are posted to the Government hospital.
“Health workers who are posted here find it difficult to get accommodation so some of them declined when they were posted here and they went back. The few who decided to stay, are also having challenges with rent. No landlady is ready to take 1 year allowance for rent”, he disclosed.
