The National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations following the ongoing verification of second cycle schools has called on the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to extend the school choices confirmation deadline.
Expected to end on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the Education Service Wednesday, February 16. 2022 commenced the school choices verification and confirmation process for students who sat for the 2021 BECE for School Candidates.
In a statement signed by the spokeswoman of the Service and copied to EducationWeb, GES said the verification and confirmation process forms part of efforts to ensure a smooth computer school placement this academic year.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the press release indicated a bulk SMS of the second cycle schools selected by the 2021 BECE graduates will be sent to the contact numbers they provided during the selection of schools process.
Prospective students who may detect errors or mistakes in their school choices, name, date of birth or index number have been entreated to immediately notify their heads of schools of any errors for corrections to be made.
The Education Service stated that all 2021 BECE students across the country are to visit https://csspsverify.com or dial the shortcode *899*88# and follow the instructions carefully to verify the school choices via USSD.
But, the spokesperson for the National Council Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), Felicity Ahafianyo in an interview with an Accra-based radio station said the one-week duration for the school choices confirmation is not enough.
In line with some students who have also called for the February 22, 2022 deadline to be extended, she has urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to end the selected schools verification and confirmation exercise end of February 2022.
