Messi wins Best FIFA Men’s player award.


The 2022 Best FIFA Awards have named Lionel Messi of Argentina and PSG as the male player of the year.


Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema, two French attackers, were beaten out for the championship by Messi, who has won the Ballon d’Or award seven times.


The 35-year-old Messi, who scored 27 goals in 49 games for both his club and nation in the 2021–22 season, was a crucial part of Argentina’s victory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Women’s player of the year was awarded to Alexia Putellas of Barcelona.

Lionel Scaloni, who guided Argentina to their third World Cup victory, was named the male coach of the year at the awards ceremony held in Paris.

Scaloni defeated Pep Guardiola to take home the prize.
