The Head Coach of the senior national men’s soccer team, the Black Stars, has handed a debut call-up to FC Basel defender Jonas Adjetey.
The former Berekum Chelsea player got the late call-up following an injury to Fenerbahce defender Alexander Djiku on Friday.
Djiku was named by coach Addo as part of his 23-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
However, he limped off in the 61st minute in Fenerbahce’s 3-0 win over Alanyaspor.
His place in the national team has, therefore, been given to young Switzerland-based defender.
Adjetey comes in with experience from the Swiss league.
He was a member of the 2022 Black Satellites team.
The defender is expected to join up with his new teammates by Monday ahead of their trip the following day to Kumasi, where the Angola game will be played.
