A former Deputy Minister for Information, under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Kwakye Ofosu is accusing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Cousin Gabby Asare Otchere Darko of politicizing the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program and making it look bad in before Ghanaians.
According to the NDC apologist, the then opposition made it their core mandate to vilify the IMF program when the National NDC administration sought the Fund’s support in 2015.
‘Up until 2015, IMF programs were not really such a big deal until the likes of Bawumia, Gabby and Akufo-Addo decided to make it a political hot potato for the National Democratic Congress(NDC) administration.
‘So they dabbled in all manner of false claims and demonized the IMF and made them look like they were a bunch of people with horns and tails wielding pitchforks to false problem down our throats and that they were never going to go there,” the former Minister pointed out on Newsfile monitored by MyNewsGh.com
‘Ghana has gone to the IMF 16 times as many people have said’, Kwakye Ofosu told host, Samson Lardy Anyenini.
It would be recalled that a statement signed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and dated July 1st, 2022 indicated that there had already been a conversation between the IMF boss, Kristalina Georgieva and President Akufo-Addo, conveying the government’s decision to engage the Fund.
