The University Of Skills Training And Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) following the suspension of UTAG industrial action has announced Thursday, February 24, 2022, as lectures resumption date for the 2022 academic year.
The Management of the AAMUSTED in a communique sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh urged prospective students and staff of the institution to take note of the date to resume academic activities and act accordingly.
“Following UTAG’s suspension of its strike action, Management wishes to inform staff and students that lectures for the first semester of the 2022 academic year will commence Thursday, February 24, 2022,” AAMUSTED said on Wednesday.
In a related development, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) amid the suspension of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has also slated February 24, 2022, as lectures resumption date.
In a social media post sighted by EducationWeb, Management of the Science and Technology university said fresh and continuing students and staff of the institution should report on the said date to start academic activities.
“It is announced for the information of students and staff that, following the suspension of the industrial action by UTAG, lectures for the 2022 academic year will begin on Thursday, February 24, 2022,” KNUST said on Tuesday.
The suspension of the university teacher’s industrial action comes after the National Executive Committee (NEC) of UTAG held a meeting at the UPSA to agree to temporarily discontinue its 5 weeks nationwide strike action.
In a press release, the Teachers Association said its decision to suspend the industrial action follows appeals made by members of the general public and also from some eminent leaders in the country including a former President.
The National Executive Committee indicated the strike action has been halted for the leadership of UTAG to continue to engage the central government over their demand for better conditions of service before March 4, 2022.
Members of UTAG following the temporary industrial action suspension have consequently been urged to return to their various campuses to start academic activities for the stated period to negotiate with the government.
