The Northern Regional Serial Callers Association of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared a strike, citing poor working conditions and a lack of remuneration as advocates for the governing party.

The group, known as the Regional Serial Callers Association in the Northern Region, announced their decision to strike with immediate effect.

A statement dated February 16, 2024, and signed by the group’s spokesperson, Umar Faruk Sabonjida, said the strike became necessary due to the increasing frustrations of members.

“These frustrations stem from the Regional Executives’ failure to fulfill promises aimed at enhancing the socio-economic welfare of the group’s members over the years,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the Regional Communication Directorate and the party’s leadership in the region have consistently overlooked the numerous complaints lodged by the group, leading to the decision to go on strike.

Some of the complaints highlighted in the statement included the absence of job opportunities for colleagues with the requisite qualifications, the lack of agricultural support for members engaged in farming, and insufficient financial support for those involved in business, among other issues.
