The National Labour Commission (NLC) is set to have a meeting with the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).

This comes on the back of an intended strike action by the GAUA.

In a letter dated Tuesday, 23 January 2024, the association had accusedthe government, i.e,  the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) of showing total disregard for their Conditions of Service (CoS,) and its negotiated outcomes.

The Union had thus threatened to embark on a strike effective Monday, 29 January 2024, if the government fails and/or refuses to address its issues immediately.

However, the NLC, inthe  exercise of its powers under section 139 of the Labour Act, (2003), Act 651, has written to summon the parties to appear before the Commission on “Wednesday, 31 January 2024 at 11 am for a hearing of the issues in dispute.”

The NLC, in the summons, therefore advised the Union to “stay any and/or all intended actions(s) and appear as scheduled.”
