Among the many parliamentary candidates who lost in the primaries held on January 27 by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), some of them, aside from being incumbent MPs, were either ministers or deputy ministers of state.

The occurrence does not only have implications for Parliament, it has for the Executive arm of government as well.

That is because the state will be deprived of its wealth of experience.

They are:

  • Joseph Cudjoe Minister of Public Enterprises
  • Freda Prempeh, Sanitation Minister
  • Lariba Abudu Zuweira, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection,
