2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 18 Match Preview – Great Olympics vs. Real Tamale United



Great Olympics will take on Real Tamale United in their first fixture of the Ghana Premier League second round on Monday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Dade Boys will be seeking a flying start to the second half of the campaign they way they ended the first round by getting a win against RTU.

Olympics have tasted only one loss in their last ten premiership matches having claimed five victories and drawing the other fours.

The five wins includes a crucial 1-0 against traditional and regional Hearts of Oak a fortnight ago at the same venue.

The Wonder club are currently undefeated at home in the league this campaign and are really keen on keeping that feat intact with another victory on Monday.

Five wins and three draws have been the unbeaten home form of Olympics so far.

Annor Walker goes into Monday’s match without key midfielder James Akaminko who is suspended due to accumulation of yellow cards but the rest of his squad are available for selection.

RTU didn’t end the first half of the season on a good note and would want to change things with their game against Olympics on Monday which will require extra efforts.

The Pride of the North have managed only one win in their last eight league matches where they have been winless in the last four – two defeats and two draws.

Their last victory came on January 16, 2022 when they overcame Bibiani Goldstars FC with a 2-0 scoreline.

David Abagna Sandan’s late penalty cancelled George Asamoah’s goal in the reverse fixture at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale as RTU picked a point in the end.

Unfortunately for the Northerners, Abagna remains out with an injury. He has scored 8 goals in the season so far.

RTU after beating Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at away on December 5, 2021 have now gone five straight matches on the road without a win.

They have lost all of the last four away games in the league and would want to end the drought on Monday against Olympics.

Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko will be counting on new signings like Rashid Alhassan, Victor Aidoo and Issah Kuka to be able to get a favourable results against the Dade Boys.
